Wes Jones

With more than 25 years of high-end commercial architecture and interiors experience, Wes lives and breathes the company's unofficial mission statement of “great clients, great design.”  As a principal at ai Design Group, Inc. and a registered architect, in addition to supporting clients and leading projects, he oversees finances for the firm he founded with two partners in January 2003.  His long-term client relationships are a testament to his talent, collaborative spirit and ability to consistently deliver quality, inspired design.

A graduate of the University of Cincinnati’s six-year architectural cooperative program, which included a year in Europe, Jones worked for larger firms in Baltimore, Washington, D.C., Atlanta and Charlotte for nearly two decades before starting his own with two colleagues in 2003.  Equally at home leading both architectural and interiors projects, he embraces the “ai” in the firm’s name wholeheartedly.

With AIA, NCARB and LEED AP BD+C certifications, as well as holding registrations in 20 states, Wes is a well-credentialed member of the architectural profession.  His corporate interiors experience includes projects for organizations and companies such as the Urban land Institute, Apple, and General Electric, as well as headquarters projects for SPX, Barloworld, Time Warner Cable and Sonic Automotive in Charlotte, NC.  His equally diverse architectural experience includes office, retail, hospitality, automotive and racing.

Wes is a recognized design expert in the motorsports industry.  His work, beginning in 1997 with the nine-story, $30 million, mixed-use, AIA award-winning Texas Speedway Club Tower project, has since led to major stadium expansions and campus master plans across the country and internationally.

Wes is actively involved in the Charlotte Business community through his membership in Rotary and Board positions with the Chamber of Commerce and the Hospitality and Tourism Alliance.  He is currently serving a three-year term on the Charlotte City Council’s Business Advisory Committee.

Wes has two children and resides in Charlotte, NC.  He is an avid guitarist and active outdoor adventurer. When not working, he enjoys backpacking, mountain climbing, canyoneering, skiing, biking and running.
